Pictured here are one of the many fine tables built by Wally Kunkel, Jr. — taken at the new Mr. Sawdust School.

"Unless you decide to make a new table, don’t waste your time with the remainder of this book. The DeWalt Table is not a “cutting board.” It is a positioning surface only—a precise index for each and every operation!

Now, look what I have for you! The perfect table."

What was needed was a table with the flatness and stability of a steel plate — but the way it was used as a cutting surface, it would have been tough on blades! A little impractical.

Steel was what was needed — but made practical!

If we could combine its strength with a good “cuttable” material, we’d have the perfect table.

This kind of thinking started about ten years ago when I had a problem with a block-front desk I was building. […] The result was a desktop so strong that I could sit on it without forcing it down on the close-fitting drawer.

Solving that problem eventually resulted in the best table ever put on a DeWalt.

My book shows you how to make that very table.

Here’s a few videos of folks who have built my table… well worth watching!
