Walnut Ridge Craftsman —
that’s what they called this new venture into the making of beautifully handcrafted slab tables & furniture.
Just following the ultimately unsuccessful Kunkel Plastics endeavor, Wallace was back on the saddle with a fresh idea burning. In a letter home to his folks – dated July 14th, 1973 – he goes into great depth about this new “slab table” concept — you can genuinely feel his excitement, having found this new undertaking.
Read the letter for yourself and you’ll see what it was all about. One detail (among many) that caught our attention is the mention a “Japanese craftsman over in Pennsylvania” doing similar work — we’re assuming he was talking about George Nakashima. Great minds do think alike.
